BIKE FIT

If you are reading this you are most probably considering having a bike fit. The reasons for having a bike fit are numerous. You may have a niggling pain or discomfort when riding your bike it could be you want to spend more time on your bike and you just want to be confident that you are in the best position possible to suit your goals, you could be someone who has been riding for many years or has just discovered cycling or a family member or good friend has bought you a bike fit gift voucher, which every it is having a bike fit is a good idea. Bike fits are not just for elite cyclists, in my opinion they will benefit anyone who regularly rides a bike. A long time before bike fit was a thing, I had been cycling for many years covering lots of miles making minor adjustments to my bike trying to get into the best position I could depending on the event or challenge I was partaking in. I rarely recorded any of the adjustments that I made and relied mainly on guess work having a bike fit eliminates the guess work.

What To Expect From Your Bike Fitting
Your bike will be attached to static rollers and the existing measurements of your bike’s setup will be recorded. You will be asked some question regarding your type of riding general fitness and what you would like to achieve from the bike fit session etc. You will then be asked to undertake some pedaling in Zone 2 and observed, you will then have some physical and digital measurements taken of you in your currant riding position and assessed and any alterations will be made.


What You Will Need For Your Bike Fitting
You will need to bring your bike it will need to be clean and dry and well maintained to prevent any damage to my equipment. Ideally you would wear your normal riding kit and shoes (shoes and cleats will be assessed) but something close fitting is essential. Water will be provided but I do recommend you should be suitably hydrated and fueled for the activity.

What Adjustments May Be Made
I will make assessments of your flexibility mobility and position on the bike while riding, based on that I will make adjustments to your saddle position (fore and aft) saddle height, handle bar position and stem adjustment. The adjustments made can improve performance, comfort and help prevent injury. There are limitations as to what can be achieved, and if your bike is identified as being an unsuitable size adjustments may not be made far enough to accommodate that. It is also worth noting that bike fitting can change over time your flexibility may change and your fit will need reviewing again. Before your fit while out riding consider what it is you dislike about your position rather than thinking why or how it occurs.
